-20% of people over the age of 55 suffer from a mental disorder,

-2/3 of nursing home residents exhibit mental and behavioral problems

-less than 3% of older adults report seeing a mental health professional for thier problems

-Senior Americans severly underutilize mental health services

-Those over the age of 55 are at a much higher risk for developing depression and/or anxiety
